The Great Debate

Each year, in conjunction with the Penn State Speech & Debate Society (PSU SDS), and with help from the Economics Department as well as funding from the University Park Allocation Committee (UPAC), PSUEA fills Eisenhower Auditorium with students from an assortment of majors and backgrounds to debate a common issue within the Economics community. Last year, the question put forth was, "is liberalizing international trade essential for achieving prosperity?" Check out the highlights from the 2017 Great Debate Below!

Washington D.C. Trip

During the course of the year the Economics Association takes several trips.

These trips have been to the federal reserve banks in Philadelphia, New York, and Washington D.C. Each trip presents a different opportunity to learn from various new and renown economists.

Our final end of the year trip is to the central bank in Washington D.C. This is a very rare opportunity for members to sit and meet with some of the top economic advisers in the United States. This opportunity is available exclusively through the EA thanks to our faculty adviser connections. This trip is a unique opportunity to participate in a discussion forum about different monetary and fiscal policies with senior Federal Reserve advisers.
