The Great Debate

Each year, with help from the Economics Department and funding from the University Park Allocation Committee (UPAC), PSUEA fills Eisenhower Auditorium with students from many different majors and backgrounds to debate a common issue within the Economics community. In the 2016 Great Debate, the question put forth was, Is illegal immigration a net loss or net benefit to the U.S. economy? Check out the highlights from the 2016 and 2015 Great Debates Below!

Washington D.C. Trip

During the course of the year the Economics Association takes several trips.

These trips have been to the federal reserve banks in Philadelphia, New York and Washington D.C. Each trip presents a different opportunity to learn from various new and renown economists.

Our final end of the year trip is to the central bank in Washington D.C. This is a very rare opportunity for members to sit and meet with some of the top economic advisers in the United States. This opportunity is exclusively through EA because of our faculty adviser connections. This trip is a unique opportunity to participate in a discussion forum about different monetary and fiscal policies with senior Federal Reserve advisers.
